3rd Grade Makers: Creating in the Wonder Studio

January 24, 2023 ~ wordancerblog ~ 3 Comments

It’s January, and it’s finally time for the 3rd graders to have time in the Wonder Studio during recess. They are beyond excited.  I look out onto a sea of eager faces, and they are literally bouncing with energy. I gather them on the porch before we venture inside.

I love this so much. I want to visit the Wonder Studio. I’m convinced we’re doing a grave disservice to children by plopping them in front of screens so much, even in the name of learning. This time of creativity is vital to both the children and our society.

Thanks for this reminder of how much children love these opportunities! And- huge kudos to you for finding time and materials for so many students. And space to store their creations. And to do it all in small groups- so smart. For me, what makes your piece so strong is the descriptions of actual creations and materials used; that brought these girls and their imaginations to life for your reader.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!
The conversation, the joy, the openness to learn and do, the obvious trust in one another, the creativity, the learning, the process, the product …. so good.
