What Makes You Happy?

September 10, 2024 ~ wordancerblog ~ 5 Comments

I know I must start every day with gratitude, blessed to work in a place with such lively spirits. So many times, it is the children who have shown me the way to happiness.  So many times, their fresh way of seeing things has given me pause and made me laugh.

I can't add anything but, "Brava" to the comments here! The stanzas that begin, "Remember me as..." speak so clearly…

I like the way you build up to your word reveal. And with the perfect photo!

I love that your colleagues will get to experience this book with you. I am rereading it this year. I am also participating in a yearlong course from Happy Schools- so much to learn! Your beautiful gratitudes made me feel like I was right there with you!

You were built to dedicate your life to being in the company of children as their teacher. The 50-year goal is an incredible one to have. How many total years in to you have at your present school? (I know what it is, but don’t want to leave it here since I don’t think you’ve named it.) I know you were at RPS after I left in ’88, so I’m assuming it’s something like 30 years where you are now?

Thank you! I was at RPS for 6 years, Dalton for 12 years, and I’ve been at KPS for the past 20 years. I’m hoping to be at KPS for 25 years. I’m not sure what I’ll do when I’m not in the company of children. One of my students last year told me I could be a fairy godmother or an elf. Both are good options!

Perhaps you’ll become a children’s library volunteer. That might be a wonderful way to stay involved and be a fairy godmother who matches kids with the right books.

What a lovely list of gratitude! I appreciate that you acknowledge that you’ve had to work to find balance in your life, and that you follow that by sharing this powerful practice. I love all the specific stories and am very impressed that you caught on to “hide and seek” so quickly. It sounds like your year is off to a fabulous start!
