Small Joy: Things to Look Forward to

July 9, 2023 ~ wordancerblog ~ 5 Comments

I am in the need of good news.  I am thirsty for happy possibility. To keep myself afloat, I have made a conscious effort to turn towards hope.

Grateful Writer

March 31, 2022March 31, 2022 ~ wordancerblog ~ 5 Comments

I’m always astonished at how I somehow manage to find all this time for writing and commenting in March when the rest of the year I feel like I don’t have time because I’m too busy. It’s always an eye-opener for me: I DO have time to write after all! Beautiful poem! And have you considered a daily poem project for National Poetry Month?? I’m not sure I’m doing it this year but several slicers continue to post daily with a poem for April and check out napowrimo.net which posts a poetry prompt each day of April: https://www.napowrimo.net/one-day-to-go-and-an-early-bird-prompt-3/

Thank you, Elisabeth. I’m heading over to the site now to sign up. I’m really testing myself with 30 days of poems. Hope to read yours too!

Oh wow, I love the poem. The spinach and medicine metaphor is powerful, and such an important thought about why we write– and why we don’t!

Gorgeous poem, Joanne – so sensory. The title reminds me of a line from To Kill a Mockingbird: “Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.” I feel the same as you about writing…I love your reflections, your incredible compilations of books, and your rich verse. Thank you for all; I come away so uplifted every time. Cheering you on in the writing of that novel!
